How to cancel MUBI

Steps to cancel MUBI
- FIRST, identify how you pay: if you signed up through Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, or FireTV, you MUST cancel through that platform (the MUBI website will not stop the billing). If you subscribed directly on the MUBI website, follow the web steps below.
- WEB (direct MUBI billing): Go to mubi.com and log in, then open your subscription settings directly at mubi.com/subscription (the 'Subscription' section under Settings).
- WEB: In the Subscription section, select the option to cancel your membership and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm.
- WEB: Confirm cancellation completed; you keep access until the end of the current paid period (remaining prepaid time is preserved).
- APPLE (iOS billing): Open Settings on your iPhone/iPad, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap MUBI, then tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- GOOGLE PLAY (Android billing): Open the Google Play Store app (signed in with the account used to subscribe), tap your profile icon, tap Payments & subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, tap MUBI, then tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
- AMAZON / Prime Video Channel: Cancel in your Amazon account under Memberships & Subscriptions. ROKU: manage and cancel through your Roku account settings at my.roku.com.
- Cancel at least 1 calendar day before your renewal date to avoid being billed for the next period. To cancel a free trial without charge, cancel before the trial period ends.
Things to watch out for
- App-store billing trap: if you subscribed via Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, or FireTV, MUBI cannot cancel it for you. You must cancel through that platform or you will keep getting charged. Per MUBI's Terms of Service: 'you will need to do so through such third party... by visiting your account with the applicable third party and turning off auto-renew.'
- Timing: MUBI Terms of Service states 'You must cancel your subscription 1 calendar day before it renews in order to avoid billing of the next period's subscription fees.' Apple specifically requires cancelling at least 24 hours before renewal.
- Free trial: billing begins automatically at the end of the 7-day free trial unless you cancel before the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial means no charge.
- Refunds: MUBI Terms of Service state 'Payments are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods,' except at MUBI's sole discretion or where required by law. Cancelling does not refund the current period; it stops future billing only.
- No public phone line: MUBI does not list an official cancellation phone number. Be wary of third-party sites listing a phone number (e.g. a 1-917 number on a non-MUBI intercom.help page), these are not official and may be scams. Use support@mubi.com for billing or refund issues.
- Get the confirmation email so you have proof the cancellation went through.
Refunds
Payments are nonrefundable per MUBI's Terms of Service ('Payments are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods'), except refunds MUBI may grant at its sole discretion case-by-case or as required by law. Cancelling stops future billing but does not refund the current period; you retain access until the period ends. Cancelling during the 7-day free trial avoids any charge. For a billing-error refund, email support@mubi.com.
Official cancel URL is mubi.com/subscription, confirmed by MUBI's own FAQ (help.mubi.com article 68, last updated June 4, 2026). No retention/save offer is documented in MUBI's official materials. No official cancellation phone number exists; MUBI support is via email at support@mubi.com (confirmed on MUBI's official X account and refund FAQ article 1143) and the contact page at mubi.com/en/contact. A 1-917 phone number circulating on third-party 'cancellation help' pages is NOT official and was deliberately excluded; the intercom.help page hosting it now returns a 404.
