How to cancel Hulu

Steps to cancel Hulu
- FIRST confirm who bills you: on a computer or mobile web browser, log in at hulu.com and open your Account page (secure.hulu.com/account). Check the Payment Information section for your billing party. If it lists Apple, Google Play, Verizon, Optimum, Disney+, or another third party, you cannot cancel inside Hulu and must cancel through that company instead. (Exception: Amazon-billed and Roku-billed subscriptions CAN be canceled on Hulu.com directly, see gotchas.)
- If Hulu bills you directly (or you are Amazon- or Roku-billed): log in to your Account page at secure.hulu.com/account on a computer or mobile browser. You cannot cancel from inside the Hulu mobile app or a TV/streaming-device app; you must use a web browser.
- Scroll to the Your Subscription section.
- Select Cancel under Your Subscription.
- Hulu may first present a pause offer (pause for up to 12 weeks) or other retention prompts. To cancel outright, decline the pause and select Continue to Cancel.
- Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to confirm cancellation.
- Confirm it worked: your Account page should show the status 'Your subscription will be canceled,' and you should receive a confirmation email from Hulu. If neither appears, you may not be fully canceled.
- You keep access until the end of your current billing cycle and will not be charged after that. (Exception: canceling a Hulu + Live TV free trial ends access immediately.)
Things to watch out for
- Third-party billing redirect: if your Payment Information shows Apple, Google Play, Verizon, or Optimum, you MUST cancel through that company, not through Hulu. Apple (existing Apple-billed subscribers only): iPhone/iPad Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Hulu > Cancel Subscription. Google Play: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions or the Play Store app > Subscriptions. Clicking around inside Hulu will not cancel a third-party-billed plan.
- Amazon and Roku are the exception: even though they are third-party billers, Hulu's official help pages say Amazon-billed and Roku-billed subscriptions can be canceled on Hulu.com directly (Amazon can also be canceled via Amazon Pay). You do not have to go to Amazon or Roku to cancel.
- No cancellation from inside the Hulu mobile or TV app. Direct (Hulu-billed) cancellation only works from the Account page in a web browser.
- Free-trial timing: if you do not cancel before the trial ends, you are automatically charged the current rate and the subscription renews until you cancel. Cancel before the trial end date to avoid the charge.
- Free-trial access difference: canceling a regular trial lets you keep access until the trial ends; canceling a Hulu + Live TV free trial ends access immediately.
- Pause is a retention offer, not a cancellation. Pausing (up to 12 weeks) keeps your account and auto-resumes billing on your payment method when the pause window ends, so it does not stop future charges permanently. Pause is not available to annual subscribers, gift-card users, promo subscribers, accounts on hold, or most third-party-billed accounts other than Amazon and Roku.
- No mid-cycle proration refund: you keep access through the end of the cycle you already paid for, but Hulu does not refund the remainder of that cycle.
- New and returning users can no longer sign up via Apple or Amazon billing, but existing Apple- or Amazon-billed subscribers are still billed and managed through those companies (Amazon-billed can still cancel on Hulu.com).
- Beware fake 'Hulu cancellation' phone numbers: numbers circulating online for Hulu cancellation are widely spammy and some are flagged by the BBB as Hulu imposter scams. Hulu does not publish a cancellation phone number on its help pages. Cancel online instead; if you need to reach Hulu, use the 'Get in Touch' flow on help.hulu.com to surface the correct contact options.
Refunds
Hulu's official pages do not describe issuing refunds for cancellation. You retain access until the end of your current paid billing cycle and are not charged afterward (no proration or partial refund of the current cycle). For free trials, cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged at all. If billed by a third party (Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, etc.), any refund request would be governed by that platform's refund policy, not Hulu's.
Fastest path is the Account page in a web browser at secure.hulu.com/account (no phone call needed); cancellation cannot be done from the mobile or TV app. Hulu does NOT publish a cancellation phone number on its official help pages, and many 'Hulu cancellation' numbers online are spammy or scam-flagged, so the phone field is intentionally left empty. If you truly need to reach a person, use the 'Get in Touch' flow on help.hulu.com, which surfaces current contact options. Always verify your billing party in the Account page Payment Information section first: Apple/Google/Verizon/Optimum-billed plans must be canceled with that biller, while Amazon- and Roku-billed plans can be canceled on Hulu.com.
