How to cancel Surfshark

Steps to cancel Surfshark
- FIRST, figure out HOW you pay. If you bought Surfshark through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Amazon Appstore, you CANNOT cancel from the Surfshark website. You must cancel in that store instead (see the app-store note). If you bought directly on surfshark.com, follow the web steps below.
- WEB (bought on surfshark.com): Go to https://my.surfshark.com and log in to your Surfshark account.
- Click your email address in the top-right corner, then select 'Subscription'.
- Open the 'Payments' tab/section (direct link: https://my.surfshark.com/account/subscription/payments).
- Under your subscription details, click 'Cancel auto-renewal' (also shown as 'Cancel renewal').
- Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts to confirm the cancellation.
- Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and no further charges are made. Canceling auto-renewal does NOT trigger a refund by itself.
- ALTERNATIVE / if you cannot find the option: open the Surfshark Help Center (https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us), use 'Chat with us' to reach 24/7 live chat, and ask them to cancel. You may be given a unique cancellation link. There is no phone support.
- TO ALSO GET A REFUND (only if within 30 days of your FIRST purchase, bought via website/Paddle/Cleverbridge/Google Play): canceling auto-renewal is not enough. You must separately contact live chat and explicitly request a refund under the 30-day money-back guarantee.
Things to watch out for
- Canceling auto-renewal and getting a refund are TWO separate actions. Turning off auto-renewal does not refund you; you must ask live chat for a refund within 30 days of your first purchase.
- App-store billing trap: if you subscribed via Apple App Store, Google Play, or Amazon Appstore, the cancel button in your Surfshark account will not stop billing. You must cancel inside that store, or you will keep getting charged.
- In-app does NOT mean inside the Surfshark VPN app itself; it means the app-store subscription settings (Apple/Google/Amazon) where the billing lives.
- The 30-day money-back guarantee applies ONLY to your first/initial purchase. Recurring renewal charges are non-refundable, so cancel BEFORE your renewal date if you want to avoid the next charge.
- If you let the subscription auto-renew, that renewal payment cannot be refunded. Set a reminder a few days before your renewal date.
- Add-ons like Dedicated IP and Alternative ID are non-refundable even within the 30-day window.
- The money-back guarantee is one refund per service and applies only to your first purchase; if you have already been refunded before, you are not eligible again.
- App Store refunds are not handled by Surfshark. For Apple/Google/Amazon purchases you must request the refund from Apple, Google, or Amazon (Google Play self-service is generally only within about 48 hours of purchase; otherwise Surfshark support may assist for Google Play).
- There is no phone support and no in-person option; live chat (24/7) is the fastest human channel.
Refunds
If you bought directly from Surfshark's website (or via Paddle, Cleverbridge, or Google Play), you get a 30-day money-back guarantee on your FIRST/initial purchase only. Canceling auto-renewal does not auto-refund you. You must contact Surfshark's 24/7 live chat within 30 days of the initial purchase and explicitly request a refund. Recurring renewal payments are non-refundable, as are add-ons like Dedicated IP and Alternative ID. The guarantee is one refund per service; if you have already received a refund before, you are not eligible again. Refunds are typically processed within a few business days of approval, depending on your bank. App-store purchases are refunded by Apple/Google/Amazon, not Surfshark.
In-app cancellation means the app-store layer (Apple/Google/Amazon subscription settings), not inside the Surfshark VPN app. No phone support exists; Surfshark uses 24/7 live chat and email/ticket only (Help Center: https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us). No in-person option. Verified from Surfshark's official support domain, official blog, and Terms of Service on 2026-06-15.
