How to cancel ExpressVPN

Steps to cancel ExpressVPN
- FIRST, figure out HOW you paid. If you bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you MUST cancel there (jump to those steps below). ExpressVPN itself cannot cancel app-store subscriptions. If you paid by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly on the ExpressVPN site, use the website steps next.
- WEBSITE (card/PayPal/Apple Pay/Google Pay): Open any web browser and go to the My Subscription portal at https://portal.expressvpn.com/my-subscription . Note: you cannot cancel from inside the ExpressVPN app itself.
- WEBSITE: If prompted, enter your account email address and select 'Send Code'. Check your email for the verification code.
- WEBSITE: Enter the verification code, then select 'Continue' to sign in.
- WEBSITE: Under the 'Automatic renewal' section, click 'Cancel subscription' and follow the prompts to confirm. You will then no longer be auto-billed for the next cycle, but you keep access until the last day of your current paid cycle.
- APPLE APP STORE (if you subscribed via iPhone/iPad): Open the App Store app, tap your profile icon (top right), tap 'Subscriptions', find and tap 'ExpressVPN', then tap 'Cancel Subscription' and follow the prompts. (You can also do this from Settings: tap your name at the top, tap 'Subscriptions', tap 'ExpressVPN', then 'Cancel Subscription'.)
- GOOGLE PLAY (if you subscribed via Android): Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon (top right), tap 'Payments & subscriptions', tap 'Subscriptions', find and tap 'ExpressVPN', then tap 'Cancel subscription' and follow the prompts.
- TIMING: Cancel at least 24 hours BEFORE your free trial ends or before your next billing date, or you will be charged for the next period.
- OPTIONAL REFUND (direct/website purchases only): If you are a first-time user within 30 days of purchase, sign in at portal.expressvpn.com, go to Account & Billing / Payment History, select the invoice, and choose 'Contact Support', or start the 24/7 live chat at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/ to request a full refund under the 30-day money-back guarantee.
Things to watch out for
- You CANNOT cancel from inside the ExpressVPN app. Cancellation happens on the ExpressVPN website portal or in the app store where you paid.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the free-trial end or next billing date, otherwise you get charged for the next cycle.
- If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you MUST cancel through Apple/Google. ExpressVPN's site cannot do it, and those purchases are NOT covered by ExpressVPN's 30-day money-back guarantee. Refunds for app-store purchases are solely at Apple's or Google's discretion.
- The 30-day money-back guarantee is for FIRST-TIME users only. Anyone (or any payment account) that has been refunded before is ineligible.
- The 30 days is counted as exactly 30 days from the moment of purchase, not a calendar month. ExpressVPN's example: order at 8am on July 1 and the window closes 8am on July 31.
- World Cup promo exclusion: subscriptions purchased during the FIFA World Cup 26 promotional period (June 10 to July 11, 2026) are excluded from the 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Cancelling stops auto-renewal but you keep access until the end of the cycle you already paid for. Cancelling is not the same as deleting your account.
- Bitcoin/Paymentwall subscriptions do not auto-renew, so no manual cancellation is needed for those.
- ExpressVPN does not publish a customer-support phone number. Support is 24/7 live chat plus email (support@expressvpn.com); there is no phone line to call.
Refunds
Direct/website purchases: a 30-day money-back guarantee gives a full refund for FIRST-TIME users only; anyone (or any payment account) previously refunded is ineligible. The window is exactly 30 days from the purchase moment (ExpressVPN's example: order at 8am July 1, window closes 8am July 31). Request via the account portal (Account & Billing > Payment History > select invoice > Contact Support) or via 24/7 live chat or email at expressvpn.com/support. ExpressVPN states your original payment method will be credited 'as soon as possible'; it does not publish a firm processing time per payment method, so treat timing as unspecified. Exclusions: App Store / Google Play in-app purchases are NOT covered (request through Apple/Google instead), and subscriptions purchased during the FIFA World Cup 26 promo (June 10 to July 11, 2026) are excluded.
You cannot cancel from inside the ExpressVPN app; use the website portal (for website purchases) or the app store where you paid. Verified against ExpressVPN's own support domain (expressvpn.com). The cancel URL is the My Subscription portal at portal.expressvpn.com/my-subscription, which the official cancellation support page links to directly; you sign in via an emailed code. ExpressVPN does NOT publish a customer-support phone number; support is 24/7 live chat plus email (support@expressvpn.com) plus Contact Support via the account portal, so phone and phone_hours are intentionally left empty. Account deletion is a separate action from cancellation.
