How to cancel Grammarly

Steps to cancel Grammarly
- Confirm where you bought it first. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you cannot cancel on Grammarly's website. You must cancel through that platform instead (see gotchas). The steps below apply only to subscriptions purchased directly on Grammarly's website.
- Sign in to your account at account.grammarly.com, making sure you are logged in to the exact account that holds the paid subscription.
- Click the Account tab in the left sidebar, then click Your account, then Subscription. (You can also go directly to the Subscription page at account.grammarly.com/subscription.)
- Scroll to the bottom of the Subscription page and click Cancel Subscription.
- In the window that appears, click Continue (some versions of the flow label this Yes, continue).
- Choose a reason for cancellation when prompted, then click Cancel Subscription again to confirm.
- Verify cancellation. You should see confirmation that automatic renewal is off. You keep all paid features until the end of your current billing period, then the account reverts to the free version.
- On mobile, use the same flow in a web browser at account.grammarly.com. Grammarly directs mobile users to the website to cancel subscriptions purchased on its website.
Things to watch out for
- Cancelling only stops automatic renewal. You are not automatically refunded for the current period and you keep paid access until the period you already paid for ends.
- To avoid the next charge, cancel before your next billing cycle (or before a free trial ends). Cancelling a free trial ends the trial immediately and converts you to the free version with no charge.
- App-store billing trap: if you subscribed via the Apple App Store, you must cancel in iPhone or iPad Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions (or via support.apple.com), not on Grammarly's site. If you subscribed via Google Play, cancel in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- If the Cancel Subscription button is missing, you are likely logged in to the wrong account. Log in to the exact account holding the paid plan. If you cannot access it, contact Grammarly Support.
- Grammarly does not provide phone support. All support is via the Help Center web form or the support chatbot, with a stated goal of responding to email issues within about 48 hours.
- Business and team (Grammarly for Business) plans are cancelled by an admin from the same Subscription page (scroll to the bottom, Cancel Subscription). If you bought through the Grammarly Sales team, contact your Customer Success Manager or Support instead.
- Superhuman subscription billing is currently managed through the linked Grammarly account, so subscription changes you make in the Grammarly account apply across the Superhuman suite.
Refunds
Grammarly's official policy is that refunds are issued only if required by law, per its Terms of Service. Cancelling does not trigger a refund for the current period; you keep access until it ends. There is no stated voluntary refund window for direct website purchases. For App Store purchases, refund requests must go to Apple directly.
Self-serve cancellation is straightforward online and on mobile (via browser) for subscriptions bought directly from Grammarly. No phone call or in-person visit is required; Grammarly does not offer phone support (Help Center web form and chatbot only, with a roughly 48-hour email response goal). The single most important check is where you bought it: App Store or Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled on that platform, not on Grammarly's site.
