How to cancel Match.com

Steps to cancel Match.com
- FIRST, figure out HOW you pay. If you originally subscribed inside the Match iPhone or iPad app, Apple bills you and you must cancel through Apple (see the Apple steps below). If you subscribed inside the Match Android app, Google bills you and you must cancel through Google Play. If you signed up on the Match website (desktop or mobile web) with a card or PayPal, use the website steps below. Canceling in the wrong place will NOT stop the charges.
- WEBSITE (card or PayPal billing): Go to match.com and log in to your account.
- WEBSITE: Click the gear / Settings icon in the navigation bar at the top of the page, then choose 'Manage Subscription' (also shown as 'Manage / Cancel Membership').
- WEBSITE: Click 'Cancel Subscription', re-enter your password if prompted, then keep clicking 'Continue' / 'Continue Cancellation' through the retention prompts until cancellation is final.
- WEBSITE: Confirm it worked. You should see an on-screen message that automatic renewal has been turned off ('The automatic renewal of your subscription has now been canceled') and receive a confirmation email. If you do not see Off or get no email, the cancellation did not go through. Your profile stays usable until the paid period ends.
- APPLE / iPhone-iPad billing: Open the iPhone Settings app (NOT the Match app), tap your name at the top, tap 'Subscriptions', tap the Match subscription, then tap 'Cancel Subscription' and confirm. (If there is no Cancel button or you see a red expiration date, it is already canceled.)
- GOOGLE PLAY / Android billing: Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon (top right), tap 'Payments & subscriptions' then 'Subscriptions', tap the Match subscription, tap 'Cancel subscription', pick a reason, and confirm. (Or do it at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions on a computer.)
- TIMING: Cancel at least 48 hours before your next billing / renewal date so you are not charged for another term. For an Apple or Google free or discounted trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- OPTIONAL: If the self-serve cancel link is missing or broken, use Match's official 'Contact Us' support form or live chat from the Help Center (help.match.com) to request cancellation. The published phone line is largely automated and routes you back to the website self-serve flow, so the online form is the more reliable backup.
Match.com cancellation phone
1-800-926-2824 (Reported by independent support directories (gethuman, pissedconsumer) as Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time, but the line is an automated IVR that does not process cancellations directly and routes callers back to online self-service. Match does not prominently publish phone hours on its own site, and help.match.com blocks automated access, so hours could not be confirmed from Match directly.)
Things to watch out for
- Canceling only turns off auto-renewal. You are NOT refunded for the current term and your profile stays active until the paid period ends.
- Cancel at least 48 hours before the renewal date (24 hours before a free or trial period ends on Apple or Google) or you may be charged for another cycle.
- If Apple or Google bills you, the Match website and app have no power to stop it. You must cancel in iPhone Settings or Google Play. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged after 'canceling'.
- Deleting the Match app or deleting or hiding your profile does NOT cancel a paid subscription or stop billing.
- Always cancel all the way to a confirmation screen or email showing auto-renew is Off. The retention 'save offer' steps can make people think they finished when they did not.
- Phone support does not actually cancel for you. The published line is an automated menu that points you back to online self-service, so the website Settings flow (or the Help Center contact form) is the reliable route. If you want to call, only use a number you find on Match's own site (help.match.com); ignore numbers from random third-party blogs.
- Renewals and add-ons (Boost, Love Notes, Incognito, etc.) are non-refundable even within any cooling-off window.
Refunds
Match's general policy is that paid subscriptions are non-refundable (covered in Section 8 of the Terms of Use; refund details are in Section 8d); canceling stops the NEXT renewal but does not refund the current term, and you keep access until that paid period ends. Limited exceptions exist, mainly for first-time subscriptions or upgrades (pro-rata) and a 14-day cooling-off period that is clearly documented for UK, EU and Ireland customers; for US customers, treat the subscription as non-refundable unless Match support agrees otherwise (some US states have additional refund rights). Renewals, Boosts, Love Notes, Incognito and other add-on or virtual-item purchases are not refundable. If Apple or Google billed you, any refund request must go through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play, not Match.
Cancellation is self-serve and not hard, but the channel matters: website Settings only works for direct (card or PayPal) billing, while app-store subscriptions must be canceled in Apple or Google. Match's own help domains (help.match.com, match.com, uk.match.com) returned HTTP 403 to automated fetching even with a browser user agent, so the exact on-page wording could not be read directly from Match. However, Match's official help article 'Canceling a Match Subscription' is confirmed live at the cancel_url via search indexing, and its steps and confirmation wording ('The automatic renewal of your subscription has now been canceled') were corroborated by multiple independent 2026 sources (alphr, 19pine, onlineforlove). The Apple and Google steps were taken from official Apple Support and Google Play Help and match. The phone number 1-800-926-2824 is consistent across multiple independent support directories (gethuman lists it as the best number from 4,410 customers; pissedconsumer directories agree) and the line is automated. The draft also claimed several specific phone numbers were circulated scams (917-914-2597, 804-480-8722, 888-929-6357); none of those could be confirmed as Match-related scam numbers from any authoritative source, so the specific-numbers warning was removed and replaced with general guidance to use only numbers from Match's own site. Note 800-326-5161 is listed by gethuman as Match's Cancellations department line (not a scam). The US 14-day refund detail is documented most clearly for UK and EU markets, so it is characterized cautiously rather than asserted as a guaranteed US refund right.
