How to cancel Patreon

Steps to cancel Patreon
- FIRST determine who bills you: if you joined through the Patreon iOS app, Apple bills you and you MUST cancel in iOS Settings (not inside Patreon). If you joined on patreon.com (web), on mobile web, or on Android, Patreon bills you directly and you cancel on Patreon. Check Settings > Memberships or your card statement to see whether the charge is from Patreon or from Apple.
- WEB (billed by Patreon): Log in at patreon.com, hover over your profile icon in the top right corner, and select 'Manage memberships'.
- On your Active Memberships page, click 'Edit' next to the membership you want to cancel.
- Scroll down and click the 'Edit or Cancel payment' link located directly under the 'Update' button.
- Click 'Cancel' to confirm, then verify the membership shows as canceled in your Memberships tab.
- PATREON MOBILE APP (only if billed by Patreon, not Apple): tap the three-dots (...) button in the upper-right corner of the creator's page, tap 'Your membership', choose 'Edit membership', then tap 'Cancel membership' and follow the prompts.
- APPLE / iOS in-app billing: open iPhone/iPad Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > tap the Patreon subscription > 'Cancel Subscription' (you may need to scroll down). The cancel button will NOT appear inside Patreon for Apple-billed memberships.
- If you cannot find a cancel option or were charged in error, submit a request to Patreon support at https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Things to watch out for
- No phone support: Patreon is online/self-serve only. There is no published cancellation phone line; use the in-product flow or the support request form.
- Identify your biller FIRST. If you joined through the Patreon iOS app, Apple bills you and the cancel button will NOT appear inside Patreon. You must cancel in iOS Settings > Subscriptions, or you will keep getting charged.
- Cancel BEFORE your next billing date. Canceling stops the next renewal but does not retroactively undo a charge already processed.
- Billing-type affects access timing: with charge-upfront billing you keep access until the end of the current paid period; with monthly (non-upfront) billing you lose access immediately on cancel.
- Per-creation (per-post) billing can leave one final charge for paid posts already published before you canceled.
- Free trials: if you cancel before the trial ends you show as canceled and are not charged; if the trial lapses you are billed automatically. Free trials are NOT available on iOS in-app purchases.
- Annual memberships are not refunded except in extraordinary circumstances at Patreon's discretion.
- Pending bills are still processed at cancellation, so a charge already in progress may still go through.
Refunds
Patreon generally does not refund because payments go directly to creators. If you believe you were charged in error, you can request a refund from your Billing History within 60 days of the original payment; the creator reviews and approves or declines it (requests expire as rejected after 75 days if the creator does not respond). Per-creation charges cannot be refunded via Billing History (contact Patreon support). Approved refunds take about 7-10 business days. Annual memberships are not refunded except in extraordinary circumstances at Patreon's discretion, and annual refunds are handled by the creator directly. For Apple-billed (iOS) charges, refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com and Apple decides.
No documented retention or 'save' discount offer in Patreon's official cancellation flow; the only alternatives surfaced are downgrading your tier/amount. Patreon support is web/self-service only with no published cancellation phone number. A direct settings entry point is patreon.com/settings/memberships, but the authoritative step-by-step is the help article listed as cancel_url. CORRECTION applied during verification: the draft's Google Play / Android in-app billing cancellation path could not be confirmed from any authoritative Patreon source. Patreon's documented payment methods are credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Venmo (no Google Play), and Patreon states Android signups are billed directly by Patreon, so the Google Play path was removed.
