How to cancel Babbel

Steps to cancel Babbel
- FIRST determine where you bought the subscription. If you signed up directly on babbel.com (or babbel.gifts), follow the website steps below. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or Roku, you CANNOT cancel inside Babbel and must cancel in that store instead (see gotchas).
- For a babbel.com subscription: log in to your account at my.babbel.com (or babbel.com).
- Click the profile icon (your name) in the top right of the page, then open Profile and Settings.
- Select the Account Information section (on the left).
- Find the Cancel auto-renewal option on that page and click it. Note: if there is no Cancel auto-renewal button, your subscription is already set not to renew, and you will see the expiration date instead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the cancellation.
- Check your email for a cancellation confirmation. If you do not receive one, the cancellation may not have gone through, so repeat the steps or contact support@babbel.com.
- Note: deleting the Babbel app or deleting your Babbel account does NOT cancel the paid subscription. You must cancel the subscription (auto-renewal) itself.
Things to watch out for
- Subscriptions auto-renew. You must cancel up to the day BEFORE the renewal date, otherwise you are charged for the next full term.
- If you subscribed through an app store (Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Roku), you must cancel in that store, not on Babbel. Canceling inside Babbel will not stop app-store billing. For Apple: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. For Google Play: Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Deleting the Babbel app from your device does NOT cancel your subscription.
- Deleting your Babbel account does NOT cancel your subscription either. Babbel's own help center advises checking and canceling your subscription BEFORE deleting your account, because deletion will not cancel purchases made through a third party such as an app store.
- After you cancel you keep access to your courses until the end of the term you already paid for. You are not cut off immediately.
- Many Babbel plans are multi-month or annual prepaid terms (3, 6, or 12 months) charged upfront, and they renew for the SAME length, so missing the renewal cutoff can lock you into another full prepaid term, not just one month.
- Babbel's 20-day money-back guarantee applies only to INITIAL purchases made on babbel.com, babbel.gifts, or via Google Play. It does NOT apply to renewals, and it does NOT apply to Apple App Store purchases (those refunds must be requested from Apple).
Refunds
Babbel offers a 20-day money-back guarantee on INITIAL purchases: if you request a refund within 20 days of the initial transaction, you get a full refund, no reason needed. This applies to initial purchases made on babbel.com, babbel.gifts, or via Google Play. It does NOT apply to subscription renewals, and it does NOT apply to Apple App Store purchases (Apple refunds must be requested through Apple). After 20 days a full refund is generally not available, though you keep access until the paid term ends. Request a refund via support@babbel.com or live chat in your Babbel account.
Cancellation is fully self-serve online for direct (babbel.com / babbel.gifts) subscribers, no phone call or in-person visit required. Verified path: log in at my.babbel.com > profile icon (top right) > Profile and Settings > Account Information > Cancel auto-renewal, then confirm. If the Cancel auto-renewal button is absent, the subscription is already set not to renew. The draft's deep-link cancel_url (https://my.babbel.com/en/account/information) returned HTTP 404 and was replaced with the verified base account/login URL https://my.babbel.com (returns 200); the Account Information page itself sits behind login. Babbel does NOT surface a consumer customer-service phone number on its own official domain (its official press/contact page lists only press@/influencers@/impact@ emails); third-party aggregator sites list numbers like 1-888-901-2932 but these are NOT confirmed by Babbel and were deliberately NOT included. Official consumer channels are the self-serve account page, support@babbel.com, the help-center contact form, and live chat (orange chat bubble in Profile and Settings on babbel.com, or Support Chat in the app). No aggressive retention/save-offer flow is documented in Babbel's official help articles. App-store purchasers (Apple/Google/Amazon/Roku) must cancel in the respective store, which is the most common user mistake.
