How to cancel 1Password

Steps to cancel 1Password
- If you subscribed directly on 1Password.com (paid by card on the web): sign in to your account at 1Password.com.
- Select "Billing" in the sidebar.
- Select "Cancel subscription" (you may need to scroll down to see this button) and follow the onscreen instructions to confirm.
- Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, then your account is frozen. You can still sign in to view, copy, and export your data after it freezes, just not add or edit items, unless you delete the account.
- If you subscribed via Apple in-app purchase (iPhone or iPad): open the Settings app, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap the 1Password subscription, then tap Cancel Subscription.
- If you subscribed via Apple in-app purchase (Mac): open the App Store app, click your name, click Account Settings, click Subscriptions, click 1Password, then click Cancel Subscription.
- If you subscribed via Google Play (Android): open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, tap Payments & subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, select 1Password, then tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
Things to watch out for
- The free trial is 14 days. Cancel before it ends or you will be charged. If you start with a trial, the first invoice arrives within 48 hours after the trial ends.
- No refunds. 1Password states it is unable to issue refunds for past charges or for any time remaining on your account at the time of cancellation.
- Canceling does not refund or stop the current period. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account freezes.
- If you started the subscription as an in-app purchase, you cannot cancel it on 1Password.com. You must cancel through Apple or Google instead.
- How to tell where you are billed: if 1Password does not appear in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions list, you subscribed directly on 1Password.com.
- Uninstalling the app does NOT cancel the subscription. Google states plainly that when you uninstall the app, your subscription will not cancel. Use the proper billing menu.
- A frozen account still gives you read-only access to view and export your data. It is not deleted until you choose to delete it.
Refunds
No refunds. 1Password states it is unable to issue refunds for past charges or for any time remaining on your account at the time of cancellation. The only no-charge escape is canceling within the 14-day free trial. App-store-billed users would need to request any refund from Apple or Google under their respective policies, not from 1Password.
Cancellation is self-service with no phone call or in-person visit required. 1Password does not publish a cancellation phone line. After canceling, access continues until the end of the paid period, then the account freezes with read-only view, copy, and export access until you choose to delete it. No verified retention or save offer is documented on the official help pages, so that field is left empty.
